Privacy Policy
DRAFT — pending final legal review. This policy is complete but not yet in force; it takes effect once legal sign-off is confirmed.
Phixx Creative Pty Ltd (ABN 35 448 240 623, ACN 665 754 941) ("Phixx", "we", "us") operates Kith (kith.life).
Our promise in one line. Kith is a calm, shared place for households to track money they enter themselves. We collect only what we need, protect it carefully, and never sell it. We aren't legally required to follow the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) at our current size, but we choose to comply with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
1. What this policy covers
How we collect, use, hold, disclose and protect your personal information on Kith, and how you can access, correct or complain about it.
2. The personal information we collect
- Account: name, email, password (stored hashed), household role.
- Household: household name, members you invite, and the relationships between them (including any children an adult adds).
- Financial information you enter: budgets, income, expenses, balances, bills, goals and notes. This is information you type in. Kith does not connect to your bank, and we never import or move money.
- Billing: subscription status and limited payment metadata; card payments are handled by our processor (Stripe) — we don't store full card numbers.
- Technical: IP address, device/browser type, log and usage data, and cookies for sign-in, security and basic analytics.
- Acceptance records: the versions of the Terms and this Policy you agreed to, with a timestamp and IP address.
- Support communications.
We don't intentionally collect sensitive information (such as health information). Please don't enter it.
3. How we collect it
Directly from you (sign-up, invites, the data you enter, support and billing) and automatically (cookies and logs). Where an adult invites a member, we collect that member's details from the inviter and from the member when they accept.
4. Why we use it
To run your account and household; to provide budgeting features (which requires the app to read the financial data you enter, in order to show it back to you); to process billing; to keep Kith secure and audit access; to provide support; to send service messages and, where permitted, occasional product updates you can opt out of; and to meet our legal obligations.
5. How we protect it — and an honest word on staff access
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps, including encryption in transit, access controls and logging.
To be straight with you: Kith is a working app, so the application itself must be able to read the financial data you enter in order to display it back to you. What we limit is internal and admin access — our support and administration tools are technically restricted by database permissions so that staff using those tools cannot pull up members' financial data, and access through those tools is logged and auditable. We do not claim it is cryptographically impossible for anyone, ever, to access the underlying data — that would be untrue for any functioning app — but we design our internal tooling to keep your financial details out of routine staff view, and we monitor access. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and respond quickly if something goes wrong.
6. When we disclose it
We do not sell or trade your personal information. We disclose only: to service providers who help run Kith (hosting, payments, email, error monitoring) under confidentiality and security obligations and only as needed; to other members of your household, to the extent the product shares household budgeting data; where required or authorised by law, or to protect rights and safety; and in a business sale or restructure, subject to this Policy.
7. Overseas disclosure
We host your information in Australia (Sydney). Some service providers may process limited information overseas — for example, our payments processor (Stripe). We take reasonable steps to ensure overseas recipients handle your information consistently with the APPs.
8. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technology for sign-in, security, preferences and basic analytics. You can control cookies in your browser; some features may not work without them.
9. Data retention
We keep information while your account is active and as needed for the purposes above or to meet legal obligations, then delete or de-identify it within a reasonable period. You can ask us to delete your account; some records (billing, acceptance logs) may be retained where the law requires.
10. Children
Kith lets adults add children for budgeting; children's records hold only what an adult enters. Kith is intended to be managed by adults (18+).
11. Anonymity and pseudonymity
Where practicable and lawful you may deal with us anonymously or by a pseudonym (for example, general enquiries). Running an account requires identifying information to secure it.
12. Accessing and correcting your information
Update most information in settings. For other personal information we hold, contact support@phixx.com; we'll respond within a reasonable time and explain if we can't act on a request.
13. Data breaches
If a breach is likely to cause serious harm, we'll assess it promptly and, where the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme applies, notify you and the OAIC as soon as practicable with steps you can take.
14. Complaints
Contact us first at support@phixx.com. If you're unsatisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC): oaic.gov.au · 1300 363 992.
15. Changes to this policy
We'll post new versions here with a new effective date, and for material changes we'll notify you (for example, by email or an in-app notice). Your continued use of Kith after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Policy. The current version is always available in the app, and we keep a record of the version you first agreed to. This doesn't limit your rights under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the APPs.
